I just wanted to throw a quick shout out to this month’s dish at Morimoto Asia in Disney Springs. This dish is super beginner friendly to anyone who hasn’t experienced much Taiwanese cuisine. It traditionally doesn’t include fish sauce either, for those who are adverse to it.
What is Lu Rou Fan?
Lu Rou Fan is a Taiwanese dish that consists of ground or diced pork belly that is braised in a slightly sweet soy sauce based broth. It usually includes Shaoxing wine and five spice, which makes the dish stand out. It is served with a soy marinaded egg, some pickled veg, all over rice.
Specifically at Morimoto Asia it is served with pickled red onion and what seemed to be either wok fried or steamed sugar peas. I think my only wish for the dish was that it had more sugar peas. My bowl only came with 3 of them.
